Tuberculosis

At Viva Hospital, under the guidance of Dr. Tushyanth V, we provide specialized care for Tuberculosis (TB), a serious infectious disease that primarily affects the lungs but can also spread to other parts of the body such as the kidneys, spine, and brain. TB is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and spreads from person to person through airborne droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Although TB is a preventable and curable disease, it continues to be a major health concern in India and worldwide. The condition can present in two forms: latent TB, where the infection remains in the body without symptoms, and active TB, where the bacteria multiply and cause illness. Common symptoms of active TB include persistent cough lasting more than two weeks, chest pain, coughing up blood, unexplained weight loss, fever, night sweats, and fatigue.

At Viva Hospital, we emphasize the importance of early diagnosis to prevent the spread of infection and to start effective treatment promptly. Dr. Tushyanth conducts a detailed evaluation that may include chest X-rays, sputum tests, and advanced laboratory investigations to confirm the diagnosis. For extrapulmonary TB (outside the lungs), further imaging and biopsies may be required.

Treatment for TB involves a long-term course of multiple antibiotics, usually lasting six months or more. At Viva Hospital, patients receive a personalized treatment plan, with careful monitoring to ensure adherence and to prevent the development of drug-resistant TB. Education and counseling are also provided to help patients complete the full course of treatment, which is crucial for a successful cure.

We also provide care for Multi-Drug Resistant TB (MDR-TB), which requires specialized medications and longer treatment durations. Regular follow-ups, nutritional guidance, and support are integrated into the care plan to strengthen the immune system and improve recovery.

With Dr. Tushyanth’s expertise and patient-focused care, Viva Hospital is committed to controlling TB and reducing its impact. Our goal is to ensure patients receive accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and compassionate support to overcome this challenging disease.
